biography Umberto Scipione
Professor at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music in Rome, composer, conductor, pianist, clarinetist, orchestrator and arranger Umberto Scipione is a leading exponent of Italian music in the world. Prestigious role acquired both thanks to his award-winning profession as composer of soundtracks for highly successful films, and for his acclaimed concert performances on a national and international level.
He has written soundtracks for over three hundred productions including films, documentaries, short films, fiction, television broadcasts, commercials and radio dramas. He is the author of songs, classical music pieces and educational works.
He is a member of the Jury of the “David di Donatello” (Italian Oscar), of the European Film Academy and of the WSA (World Soundtrack Awards).
He is the winner WSA (World Soundtrack Awards) “Public Choice Award” 2024 for the soundtrack of the film “La Guerra dei Nonni”.
He has 4 nominations for the David di Donatello for best-selling film soundtracks:
- 2011 for the soundtrack of the film “Benvenuti al Sud”;
- 2012 for the soundtrack of the film “Benvenuti al Nord”;
- 2012 for the original song from the film “Benvenuti al Nord”;
- 2014 for the soundtrack of the film "Sotto una Buona Stella".
Plus he got:
- Nomination SIAE Music Award 2023 (Italian Grammy Award) for the Soundtrack of the Film “Chi ha incastrato Babbo Natale?”.
Among the most successful films in recent years for which he composed the soundtracks we also remember: Il Principe abusivo, Un Boss in salotto, Si accettano miracoli, Mister Felicità, Il Giorno Più Bello del Mondo, Chi ha incastrato Babbo Natale?, Tramite Amicizia, La Guerra dei Nonni, Succede anche nelle migliori famiglie, Come far litigare mamma e papà.
He just finished composing the soundtrack for the film "Io e te dobbiamo parlare", which will be released in cinemas at Christmas 2024.
On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Beatles, in 2010 he was a successful protagonist in the concert held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, with the arrangement of the song “Do you want to know a secret?”.
